Airfryer Scoop Cookie with a Pistachio Centre

If you’ve been scrolling food videos lately, chances are you’ve seen the scoop cookie. It started popping up all over my feed about two weeks ago, and naturally my curiosity was piqued. Thick bakery-style cookies, scooped into a mound instead of flattened, sometimes stuffed with chocolate or spreads. The promise is always the same: a…

Airfryer Tortilla Quiche

The first time I saw someone make a quiche using tortilla wraps on Instagram, my reaction was immediate. OMG. I gotta try this. But then the skeptical foodie voice in my head kicked in: Can a tortilla really replace a proper buttery shortcrust pastry shell? The answer? Yes … and no. No, because two tortilla…

No-Bake 3-Ingredient Viral Cheesecake

Some of my favourite kitchen experiments happen when I’m trying to clear leftovers from the fridge, like this no-bake Greek yogurt “cheesecake”. You’ve probably seen the viral two-ingredient cheesecake trend by now. This version uses just one extra ingredient, and honestly, it tastes even better. I’m speaking as someone who has tried the viral cheesecake…

Scallion Cheesy Scones

These scallion cheesy scones are the bomb! Recently I read about cheesy drop biscuits (the American name for scones) that taste like sour cream and onion chips …! OMG. The description alone was enough to make me salivate. Now, the original recipe by Sue Li uses chives and an oven. But since I only had…

Air-fried Stuffed Potatoes with Savoury Minced Beef

What can I do with potatoes that’s more exciting than French fries or mash? This recipe began with that simple question. There they were — a humble bag of baby potatoes leftover from last night’s dinner party, waiting to be transformed. I wanted something that would make my weeknight dinner feel special without requiring a…

Pistachio Pesto Pasta

No, this pistachio pesto pasta is not classic, but after trying this recipe, you might just prefer it to the original version with pine nuts! First, why pistachio for pesto? For this wild idea, I gotta thank my frugal inner housewife. I love a good pesto pasta, but the price of pine nuts has skyrocketed….

Onion Jam

Onion Jam

I’m no stranger to onion jam. A sweet-sticky condiment of slow-cooked onions, it’s typically served with burgers in Western restaurants. In Asia, it’s sometimes just called “caramelised onions”. Is it nice? Yes, but nothing to get excited about. Until I ate a version made by a friend in Singapore, using her personal recipe. Holy smokes….

Sausage Tomato Pasta

This ridiculously simple sausage tomato pasta is so tasty I couldn’t believe it until I made it myself. I’ve seen variations of this floating around the internet. Jamie Oliver has made a version of it, among other people. But it wasn’t until I saw Catalina Tre’s gorgeous photo of her spicy sausage pasta that I…

Smoked Salmon Pâté

My first encounter with pâté was thanks to the late Dr Frank Dourado, a popular general practitioner in Ipoh. Many years ago, my father went to his clinic on Brewster Road for consultation. Both gardening geeks, the two men got along like a house on fire, though their backgrounds were very different. Their friendship extended…

Dutch Baby Pancakes

Creamy Chicken Casserole

Proof that this creamy chicken casserole is a winner? The first words out of my hubby’s mouth after his first bite were: “Make sure you write this recipe down!” Uh huh. That’s how good it was. Welcome!

I’m Alexandra Wong, aka Ipohbunny. Yes, I was born in Ipoh, a city in the state of Perak, Malaysia. Oh and like many Ipohites, I’m a hardcore foodie!

As a food and travel journalist and author, and daughter of two amazing home cooks (my mum makes better food than most restaurants!) I am passionate about recreating restaurant-style dishes at home.

From Indian to Japanese, Laotian to Italian, I’m game to try any cuisine from any country – as long as there’s a stove involved (yes, I even bake bread on it) and my well-loved airfryer is within reach!
