Mum’s Onion Omelette

Can you see me drooling as I film my mum – this onion omelette is one of those dishes that look too simple to impress. Just three eggs, two red onions, soy sauce, salt, and oil. But somehow, in her hands, it becomes magic. In Malay, we call that ‘air tangan’, the special touch that…

I love me some hummus but tahini is SO expensive in Malaysia – then one day I thought, can I make hummus WITHOUT tahini? Turns out you can! The secret lies in a pantry staple familiar to every Asian kitchen: sesame oil. While it may not replicate the exact taste of tahini, it’s a great…

The hardest part was getting the balls…

Air-fried Dengaku Naku (Miso Eggplant)

A lot of my friends asked me how I made dengaku nasu in an air fryer after I posted it in my Facebook and Instagram stories. Since I aim to please, I thought I’d roughly write up my experience 🙂 Some of you might be asking – what is dengaku nasu? It’s a traditional Japanese…

Mushroom Burger (Vegetarian)

In the spirit of eating healthier, I’ve been making more plant-based recipes and last weekend, I attempted something a little more ambitious: vegetarian mushroom burger! (Yes, bean-based vegetarian burgers ones are common but they give me flatulence. Ahem.) Verdict? I loved it! The mushroom texture and flavour tasted amazingly close to meat. I was worried…

Keto Lemon Loaf

Loving my keto lemon loaf so much! … keto? How did I, inveterate lover of carbs, end up on the keto bandwagon? This was partly inspired by a chat I had with a dietician when my parents came down in KL for medical appointments. She posited that adopting a low-carb diet can reverse diabetes. Or…

Pengat Pisang

Pengat Pisang

Pengat pisang is one of the simplest and most comforting Malaysian desserts you can make — a warm pot of bananas simmered gently in coconut milk, sugar, and pandan. I fell in love with it back in my USM days, when Desa Cahaya’s canteen would rotate different types of pengat every day: gandum, kacang hijau,…

Yummy Veggie Pizza

As hubby reached for his third slice of my veggie pizza, he grunted, “Make sure you write down the recipe.” Woah, write it down? That was how I knew I had a winner on my hands. Hubby has never explicitly requested me to write down a recipe before. Who thought a VEGETARIAN PIZZA made using…

Who loves salted egg dishes? Salted egg chicken, salted egg prawns, salted egg crabs … drool! Savoury, sweet and creamy, it lends an instant moreish luxe to anything it’s added to.
